A nourishing cleansing balm formulated to help replenish the skin’s natural lipid barrier and restore balance with a blend of skin-saving ceramides. Enriched with soothing squalene, bisabol and prebiotics, this silky balm is ideal for dry, sensitive and ageing complexions. The 2-in-1 formula also gently cleanses skin while removing makeup, without leaving any unwanted heavy residue. Comes with a muslin cloth to help remove the balm from the skin.

HOW TO USE

Gently massage onto a dry face in the morning or evening. Dampen the muslin cloth with warm water and buff face to remove the balm and impurities.

WHAT ARE CERAMIDES?
Ceramides are lipids (oils) found naturally in the skin and are essential in supporting the skin’s protective barrier and retaining moisture. They are the building blocks of our skin, comprising over 50% of its composition and play an important role in protecting it against external aggressors like UVA rays and environmental damage, as well as keeping it youthful and supple.

Ceramide quantity and quality start to diminish as skin ages, and when ceramide levels are low, the skin barrier is weakened, allowing moisture to escape (known as transepidermal water loss, or TEWL), which makes it prone to irritation. This can lead to a damaged skin barrier, which causes dry, flaky skin, redness, irritation and dehydration. Applying ceramides directly to the skin helps replenish its barrier and retain moisture. Ceramides also help to improve the skin’s tolerance of active ingredients, such as glycolic and salicylic acids by protecting the skin barrier.

Nip + Fab’s range contains synthetic ceramides, known as pseudo ceramides, which are more stable, planet-friendly and able to hydrate skin as well as able to better mimic the composition of natural lipids and the skin’s natural structure compared to plant-derived ceramides. The range also contains other skin-boosting active ingredients like niacinamide, to help even skin tone, and glycerin, a humectant that helps skin retain moisture.

Biolin is a cosmetic prebiotic sugar that supports the microbial protective flora of the skin. With Biolin, skin microbiota recovers faster and harmful organisms are reduced.

Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring acid that can be obtained from grains such as barley, wheat and rye. It has a similar effect to a mild, leave-on exfoliant. It helps to unclog pores and refine the skin's surface, is a potent antioxidant and helps to diminish the appearance of blemishes and discolouration. It also has cell-communicating properties, “telling” cells at the skin’s surface how to behave and encouraging them to produce more collagen and elastin.

Niacinamide, a form of a form of vitamin B3 with humectant properties helps protect the skin barrier by supporting the skin’s production of ceramides, as well as drawing in water and locking it in place.

Squalane is an emollient that helps to prevent TEWL by forming a protective barrier over the skin.
