Digestizyme® is a high-strength digestive enzyme formula, providing a broad spectrum of plant-sourced enzymes which digest protein, fat and carbohydrates. This product is especially relevant for:
* The elderly, given that our natural production of enzymes declines with age
* Times of illness, when enzyme production can be significantly reduced

The digestive enzymes are secreted into the digestive tract to break down food matter, so it can be absorbed across the gut wall into the bloodstream. If the enzyme system does not work effectively, optimal health cannot be maintained and undigested food passing into the large intestine will be fermented by the resident bacteria, causing flatulence, bloating and diarrhoea. We use plant-sourced enzymes, as quality control is assured and potency can be guaranteed. As such, the enzyme activity is measured and expressed in Food Chemical Codex (FCC) units, the national standard for plant enzymes.This has the added benefit of providing a more accurate description than weight in milligrams.
