Origins of René Furterer French hairstylist René Furterer was always a fan of nature right from childhood and was especially interested in using plants and essential oils. He led the way in finding haircare solutions based in nature and ways to treat the scalp.

In Paris 1957 René opened the first spa just for hair. René Furterer's clients back in the 50s were fans of the (then popular) bleached-out Marilyn look. As you can imagine, they frequently came to René with very damaged, over-styled hair. René quickly realized that healthy hair has to start with a healthy scalp. From this he evolved his own, personalised method to treat the hair and the scalp using natural ingredients - he was an immediate success!

Today the René Furterer brand is part of the Pierre Fabre Laboratories (since 1980), worldwide specialists in phyto-cosmetology. Because of the association with French pharmacy, René Furterer haircare is able to combine nature with pharmaceutical expertise. Products are still based on pure essential oils and plant extracts but with the benefit of the latest scientific innovation.
