#1 Tell us a little bit about yourself, what do you do at allbeauty?

My name’s Maggie, I started at allbeauty in 2016 as a Christmas temp in Customer Services, then moved up to Stock Management after nearly a year where I edit product images.

#2 You're chopping off your hair and donating it, that’s amazing! Could you share insight on why you are doing this?

It’s a bit of a weird reason as my inspiration was bald before the cancer! My Papa was diagnosed with cancer several years ago and he was always so strong, he didn’t complain once and was always so kind and patient even when you could see him in the worst pain. It got me thinking about how I would handle being in his situation and in all honesty, the thought of losing my hair would be terrifying. Thinking about what he went through happening to a child, and on top of that losing their hair is heartbreaking and I just wanted to help.

#3 How long have you been growing your hair?

About a year and a half!

#4 What products have you been using?

I use a mask about once a week (sometimes every other week if I’m feeling lazy), I love the TIGI Bed Head Urban Antidotes Resurrection Treatment Mask. I have naturally slightly dry hair and it feels so silky after using this. Every day I use the Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Treatment, and sometimes if I know I’m washing my hair the next day I’ll slather on a load before bed.

#5 Do you know how much hair you are donating?

The minimum donation is 7 inches and I should be donating around 10 inches. I would love to grow it again after this and donate even more!

#6 What happens when you donate?

Donated hair is sent to a special factory it’s hand knotted into a wig base, and a single wig can contain up to 10 different donations. The hair is never coloured or treated, so it is always a high quality finish and they are able to offer a range of different natural colours and lengths so suit every individual. A family can then request a wig and can visit an approved salon to choose a wig and have it styled.

#7 How do you feel about donating your hair?

I’m excited to be helping someone out there feel a bit better during such a difficult period in their lives, but at the same time it’s so sad that any one has to go through this in the first place. Cutting the hair off itself is the easy bit, I’m totally fine with that!

#8 What hairstyle are you going for next and where will you be getting it cut?

The ultimate trim! Nothing fancy, just chopping it off around the shoulder so that I can grow it again without having to wait for layers to grow out or anything. The allbeauty salon in Guernsey, the staff there are so and I trust them fully with my locks!
