The catwalks of Autumn/Winter 2021 brought the world of beauty so many new makeup looks to covet! From red lips and winged liner to flawless translucent skin and copper accents… this of course got the allbeauty team thinking - it’s time to refresh our makeup kits!

Of course, there are some practicalities we are yet to figure out (glasses + mask... hello condensation), but we figured this was a key time to look at the best of beauty brands on our site, as well as their best selling products as rated by you. Are you ready? Let’s get all made up!

M.A.C

Founded in 1984, has M.A.C (also known as Mac, or Make-Up Art Cosmetics) ever gone out of style? Whether you’re a teen of the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s or beyond, having a Mac product on your wishlist is a certified rite of passage.

Professional quality, yet friendly on the purse strings, it’s no wonder that mac products have featured in influencer Get the Look videos since the videos themselves became a trend. Offering shades for every skin tone, this makeup line is truly inclusive. We also love that their VIVA GLAM lipstick range donates a percentage of all profits to charity.

Whether you’re a fan of the natural look (à la M.A.C Velvet Teddy lipstick, their best selling nude) or more of a vivacious bold lip girl (here’s looking at you, M.A.C Ruby Woo, the iconic red lip style statement), here’s a round up of our favourites!

M.A.C's Cremesheen Lipstick helps to nourish and moisturise lips for comfortable, non-drying wear. Vanilla scented lipstick provides a smooth, glossy finish in an array of radiant colours.

We love Crème In Your Coffee - a warm toned creamy pink (the clue’s in the name there!) which is perfect for an everyday look but translates well to evening too. Suitable for all complexions, it has a neutral undertone with excellent pigmentation and lasting power.

You can’t talk about M.A.C without mentioning Ruby Woo (we checked, it’s basically a crime against beauty gurus everywhere). Red lips have been iconic since time immemorial, and M.A.C’s Ruby Woo has been up there in the Beauty Halls of Fame since its release in 1999 (...that’s 21 whole years of beauty genius right there).

Looking for more of a blue-red toned lip? We recommend Russian Red.

NARS

Oh NARS - why, even the sound of this cosmetic range is luxe and decadent.

Created in 1994 by leading fashion photographer and make up artist François Nars, the NARS makeup line originally started off as 12 lipstick shades. Inspired by the glamorous looks of François’ mother, Claudette, the range would gradually evolve over the next few decades into the exhilarating line up we know today.

With suave and exciting names such as Audacious, Outlaw and of course, the eponymous Orgasm, these beauty products have featured on the faces of the most powerful faces of fashion and pop culture. Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Tilda Swinton, Charlotte Gainsbourg… the list goes on.

Want to know one of the key reasons we love NARS so much? The founder himself has said that beauty is more than a cute face - “It is composed of Strength and Character”. Well, François, you can definitely call our team NARSISSISTS!

Here are some of our cult faves from the brand.

Give your cheeks va-va-voom with a NARS Blush - our personal go-to is Lovejoy. It adds an oh so gorgeous but natural-looking flush of colour to the face. Building from sheer to bold colour. This silky-smooth powder adds a gorgeous but natural-looking flush of colour to the face.

As we mentioned earlier, Vampy eyes were all over the 2020/2021 catwalks, and you too can serve up decadent drama with eyeshadow duos from NARS.

These sets each feature two velvety shadows that have been designed to pair together for a two toned look. If you’re looking for a rich Autumnal copper, then look no further than Surabaya! Apply wet for a look that really ups the ante.

Laura Mercier

Laura Mercier - also known as “the pioneer of the flawless face” is fairly new to allbeauty, but won’t be new to makeup fans in the know. Founded by Laura Mercier in 1996, the brand revolves around the enhancement of natural beauty - a four step plan of primer, foundation, concealer and setting products. No wonder this line features often on the red carpet at key Hollywood events, with its star products often cited as Beauty Editor cupboard favourites.

Laura Mercier is a world renowned makeup artist - raised in Provence, she went to painting school in Paris before training at Paris’ Carita Beauty Institute and moving to New York to work as a makeup artist for Vogue.

Her line represents a fusion of French Beauty - sophisticated yet effortless no-makeup, makeup, combined with a bold spirit and American energy.  So Emily in Paris!

Switching up your lip look has never been easier! This Laura Mercier set contains 5 high-shine and super pigmented lip glosses in the shades Bare Pink, Pink Pop, Cosmic, Rose Gold Accent and Bonbon. Move over Michelangelo,  be inspired by the artistic flair of Laura Mercier and create your own flawless lip masterpiece.

bareMinerals

So the summer sun may have said farewell for now, but we know what we’re reaching for to fake a sunkissed look. BareMinerals All over face colour in Warmth has all the warmth of a Pumpkin Spice Latte and will give your complexion a radiant and healthy glow! Wear alone or mix with foundation for best results. This multipurpose beauty can be used as a bronzer, blush or can even be applied to the eyelids for a colour that pops.

Continuing on the bronzed theme, BareMinerals Eyeliner in Eternal Bronze comes with a built in sharpener, to make sure that your metallic liner look is always on point. For convenience, we often find ourselves reaching for a liquid eyeliner, but this pencil allows you to go all in and really smudge up your lash line for a high fashion editorial look. Playful and on trend, yet classy. This is definitely a look we’ll be trying out!

ByTerry

Terry de Gunzburg is a legend within the beauty industry. As International Makeup Designer of YSL Beauté, one of her biggest achievements was creating YSL’s Touche Éclat click pen concealer in 1992. After working at YSL for 15 years, having come up with many glam haute couture looks, she left the brand in 2000 to launch her own line - By Terry.

Did you know this maverick originally trained to be a medical student before forging her impressive beauty credentials? We can’t imagine a catwalk without By Terry!

Enjoy a touch of indulgence with “the Rolls Royce of lip care” - By Terry’s Baume de Rose This is regarded as a cult product from the By Terry range and if you try it, you’ll soon see why this is highly rated by beauty editors! Rich and nourishing, this soft pink balm soothes and plumps your lips, leaving them delectably soft and kissably smooth. It’s formulated with rose blossom wax, shea butter, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid - we love its delicate rose scent.

We’ve made it this far without mentioning mascara, you didn’t think we’d missed it did you? Mascara Terrybly is ingenious in that it not only promises you sooty black lashes, it also acts as a growth booster too. Delivering outstanding volume, length and thickness, this product also contains that winter wonder ingredient Hyaluronic Acid to leave lashes silky and strong.
